Essays, March 7, 2011 — Early Spring Flower Rain Scene
The campus after the rain is refreshing. The water droplets have washed away the dust from the leaves, and each green leaf seems to have been carefully cleaned.
The mud and sand on the blue-and-white marble have also been washed away, gleaming and reflecting the newly bloomed flowers along the path.
The campus after the rain is beautiful. The raindrops have awakened the flowers in the bushes, and like a busy market, they bloom all at once.
The gentle drizzle, the shimmering lake, the clear bird calls, and the soft whispers of the flowers.
The campus after the rain has a coolness to it. Passersby speak little, perhaps like me, intoxicated by this early spring flower rain scene.
I walk on, gazing ahead, hoping that there, as here, the scenery is as simple and beautiful.
